Kedarkantha lies in the Govind National Park of Western Garhwal in Uttarakhand. The summit to the Kedarkantha peak is challenging and rewarding all at the same time. The most mighty peaks of Swargarohini, Banderpooch, and Ranglana are sure to leave you speechless once you reach the mountain top of the Kedarkantha peak.

In springs or early winters in India, one will feel mesmerized finding himself in layers of fresh snow amidst the tall pine forests and the white snowy meadows. The first fresh snow is something one cannot just afford to miss. Get into some soul searching in the calmness and serenity of the place.

Kedarkantha trekking is pretty strenuous and is steep at places. You are in the middle of white desert. Gaiters are must if you are trekking in the snow for the first time. The scenery on the way to the summit is captivating and you can never get enough it. A 360 degree view of the Himalayan Garhwal Range, winds blowing at 70 kmph and the Shiva Trishul define this place.

  1. Day1 Drive from Dehradun to Sankri

    We will depart to Sankri as soon as we arrive arrive at Dehradun. This place is criss-crossing over the hills and valleys, where the experience is not just in the destination, the road to the place are all part of it The first sight of this place resembles an old hill stations before they became over built messes – a few scattered houses, the little bazaar, patches of forest and wide open views. We will reach Sankri by evening. The majestic view of the mountain ranges can be seen from this place and the sun setting behind these ranges looks marvelous. Arrive at Sankri by evening. Overnight stay in guest house.

  2. Day2 Trek from Sankri - Juda-kaTalab - Shepherd Camp
    Start your day early with a hot cup of tea and tuck in some breakfast. Our trained co-coordinators will brief about the trek. The snowcapped barren mountain looks beautiful. You will enter to a flat landscape covered with glimpse of snow where bright sunlight was filtering through thick oak trees. . After trekking for few hours we will arrive at a meadow which is used by shepherds during the summer season. Camp here for the night.
  3. Day3 Trek from Shepherd Camp to Kedarkantha Base

    After the breakfast we will commence the trek towards Kedarkantha Base. The vast snow fields and green patches between them are a visual delight The pine and cedar trees are covered with snow. Walking on the soft, crystalline and dry snow will be the most enjoyable part of the trail. . You can try your hand in skiing on this snowy path. We will arrive at Kedarkanta base which offers one of the best views of the night sky. Camp overnight here

  4. Day4 Trek from Base camp to Summit and proceed to Hargaon.

    The first rays of the sun will wake you up with an enchanting view around you. There is a white blanket of snow all around. After few hours of the trek we reach Kedarkantha summit. The scenic view of Yumnotri and Gangotri range, Kinner Kailash range and other ranges are exhilarating and a visual delight. The peak had stones arranged in the form of a small temple, with a small trishul facing the sky. It was Lord Shiva’s abode. Spend some time and descend to Hargaon base camp. End your day with a sumptuous dinner and retire for the night in the tents.

  5. Day5 Trek from Hargaon base camp to Sankri

    Today is the last day of our trekking and its all the way down to Sankri. On the way we pass through dense pine forest and a series of switchbacks, farms and a ridge. Another hour of th the hike will take you to the cement bridge which we crossed on the first day of our trekking. Saur is not far from here. . It takes a maximum of one hour to reach the Saur village from here and another 5 minutes to Sankri. If you have any more energy left, explore the Saur village or just stroll around Sankri Baza. Overnight stay in lodge/homestay.
