As you reach the Palchan Thach, Bakarthach is a 2 hour walk. The patch from Palchan Thach to Bakarthach is a bit difficult and take around 2 hours. And of course base camp for the wonderful summits around ie. Shitidhar, Ladakhi, Friendship peaks. A good trekker can climb these peaks by leaving Beas Kund at early. The peaks above 6000m are Makerbeh and Shikhar Beh. Lahaul valley region lies to the north of BeasKund just behind the great wall of these mountains. To the west Kangra and lower region of Himalaya known as Dhauladhar range. Continue ascent to base camp at Lady leg.
Lady Leg to Summit base camp – Acclimatization(15071ft)
This day is for complete acclimatization. Today we will ferry our loads upto Camp I on the south east ridge of the mountain for the final assault. In the evening we will have a meeting to prepare ourselves for the summit attempt. Today we shall practice the use of Crampons, ropes and get also to get our body prepare for next day’s summit. It is always advisable to check all your mountain gears before the final push e.g check your shoes with crampons , Ice axe, gaiters, snow goggle, water bottle, dry fruits, chocolates, electoral powder, etc.
We start our ascent to the peak at midnight. The peak looks easy as a cake walk. The first patch looks more like a flat land, but requires ample strength to reach a point from where the ridge climbing starts. This part is a technical climb and requires front cramponing at certain points.
It usually takes 6-8 hours to climb the peak. The final climbs is steep but with your ability and courage, reach the summit which provides the panoramic view of Greater Himalaya range to the North and Pir Panjal range to the North West and to the South Beas River valley and Manali clearly visible. After photo shoot descent to Lady Leg.
